Do you take insurance or provide superbills?

I do not bill insurance, but I provide superbills that you can submit for reimbursement if you have a PPO plan that covers therapy from out-of-network providers. Prior to starting therapy, you may wish to ask your insurance about

  • your annual deductible and out-of-pocket maximum

  • % reimbursement / co-insurance for out-of-network therapy

  • any limits on the number of sessions reimbursed per year

  • coverage specifically for the following CPT codes:

    • 90791 - diagnostic evaluation

    • 90834 – individual psychotherapy (38-52min)

    • 90837 – individual psychotherapy (53min+)

    • 90846 – family/conjoint therapy without the identified patient present (26min+)

    • 90847 – family/conjoint therapy with the identified patient present (26min+)

Superbills include an ICD-10 diagnosis code. See this handout for a script to use when calling your insurance provider to find out the details of your out-of-network benefits. Please note that I cannot guarantee your insurance will accept submitted superbills.

I accept HSA/FSA debit cards, which use pre-tax income.

How frequently would we meet?

I meet clients with a weekly or twice weekly frequency (at regular time(s) each week) for the work to reach sufficient depth, whether to navigate a crisis or to shift recurrent patterns in your life or relationships.

I take 4-6 weeks of vacation per year and give advance notice when I do so (except in rare occasions of emergencies or unforeseen illness). I also attend conferences and trainings several times a year, which may require I reschedule sessions.

How long does therapy take?

The duration of therapy varies — some clients experience meaningful shifts in a few months, while others choose longer-term work to explore deeper layers of experience and to facilitate significant life transitions.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide advance notice when you are unable to make a session. Cancellations made within 24h of the scheduled session time will be charged the session fee. Note that cancellation fees cannot be submitted for insurance reimbursement.

Do you provide therapy in Cantonese?

I can provide therapy in a mix of Cantonese and English. If you are seeking therapy exclusively in Cantonese for you or your loved ones (i.e. for monolingual Cantonese speakers), I’m happy to provide referrals.

Do you see out-of-state or international clients?

I offer psychotherapy only to clients residing in California, due to licensure and insurance limitations.
