Frequently Asked Questions
What are your fees?
Individual therapy (50 minutes): $185
Couples/relationship therapy (75 minutes): $262.50
Counseling with 3+ people (100 minutes): $350
I am at capacity for sliding scale therapy. Please see this page for an extensive list of sliding-scale clinics in San Francisco, and most of them offer virtual services across California.
Do you take insurance?
I am not on any insurance panels, but I provide superbills that you submit for reimbursement if you have a PPO plan that covers therapy from out-of-network providers. You may wish to ask your insurance provider on your deductible, % reimbursement for out-of-network therapy, and if there are limits on the number of sessions reimbursed per year. Superbills include a diagnosis and use one of the following CPT codes:
90834 – individual therapy
90847 – couples or family therapy with the identified patient present.
I also accept HSA/FSA debit cards, which use pre-tax income.
How frequently would we meet?
I meet clients with a weekly or twice weekly frequency (at regular time(s) each week) for the work to reach sufficient depth, whether to navigate a crisis or to shift recurrent patterns in your life or relationships.
I take 4-6 weeks of vacation per year and give advance notice when I do so (except in rare occasions of emergencies or unforeseen illness). I also attend conferences and trainings several times a year, which may require I reschedule sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please, provide advance notice when you are unable to make a session. Cancellations made within 24h of the scheduled session time will be charged the session fee.
Do you provide therapy in Cantonese?
I can provide therapy in a mix of Cantonese and English. If you are seeking therapy exclusively in Cantonese for you or your loved ones (i.e. for monolingual Cantonese speakers), I’m happy to provide referrals.
Do you see out-of-state or international clients?
I offer psychotherapy only to clients residing in California, due to licensure and insurance limitations.
I maintain a separate liberation coaching* practice to clients worldwide.
*Coaching is a non-clinical service and does not include psychotherapy, diagnosis, treatment of mental health conditions, or trauma processing. It is not a substitute for therapy and is offered outside of my psychotherapy practice, without use of my California license or clinical supervision.
